Women’s Youth Training Centre Success
SA Rugby, in partnership with the Western Province Rugby and Football Union, is pleased to announce the successful launch of the Youth Training Centre in the Western Cape. The launch of the centre took place successfully at City Park on the 16th of June (Youth Day).
The program aims to bolster women’s rugby in South Africa, as well as to increase overall participation of women in the sport of rugby throughout the country.
The program will be hosted at six of the possible nine provincial unions. These include: Blue Bulls Limpopo, Border, KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape, the Blue Bulls and Western Province.
The goal of this program is to develop and increase the base number of women players in the country, and to groom and prepare these players from a young age to meet the physical demands of rugby. This will be accomplished through regular training sessions, conditioning and nutritional programs, as well as matches to expose them to competition.
