Tips from the Trainer: Best Way to Burn Calories

Training tips from the trainer: We find ourselves in the month of Easter where chocolate is bought by the basket and consumed by the trolley load. This means that in April we have a long kettlebell paved road ahead of us to get back into shape. Or do we?

Have you ever heard the phrase “Work smart, don’t work hard.”? Well we say that a little bit of both is the best solution to the protruding problem under your shirt. There are a number of ways to burn those calories faster than before especially by using movements that your body is not used to and thus kicking it into overdrive.

  1. Kettlebell Swing: This movement is not very natural and works a number of large muscle groups.
  2. Burpees: Doing just 10 reps of these is the equivalent of a 30 second all out bike sprint.
  3. Skipping: This is not only fantastic to do with your kids but is one of the best calorie burning exercises around, burning up to 850 calories an hour.
  4. Jump Squats: This exercise uses explosive power that forces your muscles to use energy that is stored as fats and carbohydrates.
  5. Battling Rope: This is a dynamic exercise that also increases muscle stamina and strength while burning a high amount of calories.

These five examples are all full body workouts that are mostly used to strengthen the muscles. They target large muscle groups which not only attack more fat and carbohydrate stores but also create more balance throughout the body’s muscular foundation.
