Club Rugby Sevens this Weekend in Belhar

IMG_7548(wpclubrugby.co.za) This weekend is the Western Province Mid-Season Club Rugby 7’s competition which will be held at Erica Park in Belhar.

16 clubs from across the length and breadth of the Western Cape will compete in the tournament and will no doubt be hoping to get their hands on some silverware.

These Sevens tournaments have proven to be festive events in the club rugby calendar. Last year’s tournament at Strand Pioneers drew huge numbers and the vibe was spectacular. Erica Park will no doubt be buzzing when the tournament begins on Friday evening.

The 16 teams are split into four groups and will play a round robin before competing in the Bowl, Shield, Plate, and Cup competitions on Saturday.

False Bay, Hamiltons, and Belhar will be the SLA representatives and are the favorites to win the Cup but they will not have it all their own way with mercurial sides such as Masiphumelele, Silverleaf, and Strand in the mix.

Entrance is R10 per person and R10 per vehicle. There will be food and drink stalls set up around the field as well as a Beer Garden. A Meet & Greet was held for all participating clubs and judging by the planned festivities, Erica Park will be the place to be for some thrilling Sevens action this weekend!
