It’s Mandela month and we want to do what we can to to reach out and help, in the wonderful legacy of Nelson Mandela. As Madiba used his life as service for all South Africans, we honour him by participating in the events lined up on 18 July, Nelson Mandela International Day, as declared by The United Nations in 2009.
Because we feel that Madiba deserves more than just 67 minutes, here are a few events to attend during Mandela month!
5 for Change is an NPO in itself, with the purpose of supporting other startup initiatives. 5 for Change hosts an annual black tie event taking place in Cape Town with the aim of raising awareness about 5 organisations, chosen on the basis of their unique methods for making a difference. The event works towards raising funds in aid of supporting these initiatives, making philanthropic efforts fun and rewarding. To date, 5 for Change have hosted only 4 events, but have managed to make a huge difference in the lives of those involved. They have supported 20 social enterprises and raised over R500 000 in funds for the beneficiaries. The next 5 for Change event takes place on 2 July 2016.
