Meditation is typically a self-directed activity intended to reduce stress and calm both the mind and body. Derived from Eastern religions, it has become increasingly popular in the West over the past several decades and is popular amongst some of the world’s biggest celebs.

The popstar wakes up, props herself up in bed and starts her day with transcendental meditation. She says that it puts her in a great mood, since it’s the only time her mind gets absolute rest.

The actress claims to do meditative yoga for 10 minutes every morning. She says that whatever problems one has can be solved by meditation, which allows everything to unfold the way it’s supposed to.

Ther controversial comedian, actor and singer says that transcendental meditation has made him a better person, and he wishes to pass this gift on to others. Not only that, but it’s helped him stay off drugs for over a decade.

Oprah Winfrey

The talk show host says that she encourages everyone at her office to meditate, and claims it has benefited her company immensely, since everyone is happier in general and therefore interacts with one another better.

George Lucas

The Star Wars director began meditating in the 1970s. The character Yoda is rumored to be based on transcendental meditation founder Maharishi Mahesh Yogi!
