Summer bodies are not always made in winter

It is mind boggling to think that there is little more than four months left of this year. Summer might be around the corner, but that is not necessarily the case for the bikini bodies we all want so much.

For a lot of us the remaining months before the December holidays are chaotic, and exercise does not necessarily make top of our priority lists. What follows, are a few frantic efforts in the gym to reach those body goals in time, but to no avail. If this scenario sounds familiar, the next few pointers might help you!

Accept and move on

This is not an easy request, but it is worth a try. The sooner you make peace with your body, the sooner you will find the confidence to rock that swimsuit anyway! We live in an era where body positivity has been given centre stage. You do not have to search far to see that society’s views on what “the perfect body looks like” is no longer applicable. And good riddance.

Aim for balance

“Balance is key” is the solution to most of life’s problems and although it sounds simple, we all know how hard it is to do life in moderation. But, now that we got rid of the expectation linked to the “perfect body”, it might be a wee bit easier to reach that balance. If you exercise for the first time in a while, do not be too hard on yourself. Learn to listen to your body. You might find that you have been pushing it too much, or, that you can push yourself a little more.

Make use of your spare time

It is no secret that a lack of time usually gets the blame for bad eating habits. Now that you have some time on your hands, you might as well use some of it on creating meal plans for when you get back to work. There are a million recipes out there that put the fun back into healthy eating, so get to it!

Holidays are for sleeping in, but nothing stops you from hitting the gym after you wake up. Note: Reread the above sections. Being fit and healthy is nothing but a lifestyle choice. No quick diet or blast routines at the gym will get you there quickly. If you decide to live as healthy as possible every day, you will feel better than any diet will ever make you feel.
